Research Interests

  • Social Cognition, autism, theory of mind/mentalizing/mind reading
  • Extrospection, (epistemic) differences between intro-and extrospection

My main interest lies in researching cognitive differences in neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals. During my PhD I want to investigate whether reading others’ and own mental states is based on the same (cognitive and neural) process. Since many studies indicate that people with autism spectrum disorder have difficulty inferring mental states of others’, I am interested if this also applies to accessing their own mental states. The findings thus obtained may not only inform about the cognition of neurotypical persons, but also about underlying cognitive processes in autism spectrum disorder.
